Experience Iceland's Allure Year-Round: A Land of Fire, Ice, and Endless Wonder.

Have you noticed you feel more open and kind to others when you are on your vacation? Travel rewires our brains and inspires our creativity. We are stimulated by new sensory experiences and develop more curiosity. When you are curious, you are eager to learn something new.

We all need vacations, regardless of duration or destination. They give us a way to separate ourselves from day-to-day routines, experience things outside our comfort zone, and meet people.

With that mindset, let’s explore Iceland! One of my favorite destinations. Many Denverites loves Iceland right after the Pandemic. Icelandair has direct flights to Reykjavik from Denver and allows stopovers for up to seven days at the cities where they fly. When you buy a round-trip ticket from Denver to Reykjavik, add a stopover in Amsterdam for a week, for example.

Iceland is a year-round destination! In the extended summer, enjoy a wealth of activities amidst its lush landscapes. Then, brace yourself for the breathtaking drama of the Northern Lights illuminating the winter skies. Known as the Land of Fire & Ice, Iceland's youthful terrain promises endless adventure and discovery.

FIRE: Volcanos on the island are still active as we recently saw the eruption of Grindavík that closed Blue Lagoon. Every time I hear the volcanic eruption news, I check on my partner, but they are usually busy helping their travelers.

Iceland is a volcanic island with geothermal water. Spa and Hot Spring lovers, make sure you have time for rejuvenation in the natural hot springs. Blue Lagoon is not the only hot spring in Iceland. There are many more!

ICE: Vatnajökull is the largest ice cap in Iceland. It covers approximately 10% of the country. If you are an adventurous ice climber, you have the opportunity to climb up and down the crevasse.

Each winter, as temperatures plummet and glaciers shift, ice caves are formed. Their kaleidoscope of hues is mesmerizing. Inside these frozen realms, time seems to stand still and otherworldly splendor.

WATER: Seek and feel the powerful waterfalls in Iceland. They are all magnificent in every way.

NORTHERN LIGHT: Viewing of northern light could be the highlight of your trip in winter. The best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland is from September to April. With a bit of luck and patience, you may witness the ethereal dance of these shimmering lights in the night sky, a truly unforgettable sight.

WILDLIFE: Let’s not forget Iceland’s diverse wildlife. One of the most iconic inhabitants is the Icelandic horse. I love them! They are a sturdy and sure-footed breed known for its small stature, thick coat, and gentle temperament. They are trusted companions for farmers, travelers, and adventurers alike. Iceland is also one of the best destinations for whale watching. In winter, you may have a chance to see Arctic foxes.

In the end, whether you're drawn to Iceland's natural beauty, its rich cultural heritage, or its abundance of outdoor adventures, one thing is certain: a journey to Iceland is an experience that stays with you long after you've returned home. So, pack your bags, be open to learning something new, be kind to others, and discover the wonders of Iceland for yourself.
